Overall Grade Bug
print icon

The Academic Technology Team has identified a bug in Blackboard that is affecting the Overall Grade column. We are actively working with Blackboard to come to a resolution, but in the meantime, we have discovered a workaround. Please have your faculty check their courses and use the following steps.

Identifying the issue:

1. Open your course

2. Open the Gradebook

3. Flip to Gridview

4. The overall grade column will appear on the left side of the gradebook just after student names.

5. If this column is set up and shows blanks instead of grades in courses that have graded content, then this bug is present.

Deploying the workaround

1. Confirm that the course is affected by the Overall Grade Bug (see above steps)

2. From the Grid view, click on the Overall Grade > then click Edit

3. Edit one of the categories to make it unavailable > Click on the null symbol so that it appears in purple

4. Edit the same column to make it available again >click it a second time so it appears gray again

5. Click save in the bottom right corner

6. Navigate back to the Gradebook

7. Check that the Overall Grade is now showing

Please feel free to reach out to the Academic Technology team at [email protected] if you have any questions or if you would like any assistance with deploying the workaround.
